The Words
Words of others. Who owns the words? They were there before we were born and they would be here when we had passed away. Nevertheless they are ours. Our creation, our permanent construction. Old, new, daily, hidden, floating within reach. In each final momento someone is building the world with words, reinventing it. I have always been attracted by words. Underline, cut, write, copy, glue. Everything that is written and said around me is leaving its print on my work. For this work I have taken directly the pages of a book that I love: Marguerite Duras' Lover . The pages dismember themselves, the texts flow and mix among themselves: new readings arise through the form.

I made this brooch for the project "Sepan cuántos", invited by Andrés Fonseca and Ofelia Murrieta, Mexican artists and jewelers. It was very exciting for me to integrate this very significant text into my work on women.
